HCSS Subject Matter Expert Friso Stevens will give a presentation (online) next Tuesday, June 20, at 3 pm Amsterdam time on contemporary Chinese foreign policy. In the presentation, he draws on China’s particular socio-historical, ideational, and political sources to analyze how Xi Jinping’s “Community of Common Destiny” and “Thought on Diplomacy” are designed to revise the existing US-led liberal order in East Asia.

HCSS strategic analyst Irina Patrahau attended the 2nd high-level joint defence and energy conference in Stockholm on 8 and 9 June 2023. Wat is het Europese belang om als EU een rol te willen blijven spelen in de Indo-Pacific regio? ‘Als je vliegtuigen in Polen laat opstijgen, geef je Rusland het beste argument om de oorlog te verklaren,’ benadrukt Rob de Wijk in gesprek met Ruben Brekelmans. Het VVD Kamerlid vindt dat een mogelijke inzet vanaf Poolse bases niet uitgesloten mag worden, zegt hij in BNR podcast Boekestijn en De Wijk.
