HCSS develops on request reviews and assessments of new and upcoming political and technology developments. While using a geopolitical angle as well as a security and geo-economic focus, assessments are made to explore the consequences and options for (inter)national policy making, economic effects and geopolitical positioning.

Based on permanent research on technologies and tools for entity extraction and knowlegde retrieval HCSS can support customers with new insights on topical issues. This innovative technology developments enable us to support the analyses of thousands of digital files in a short term, develop all kind of knowledge graphs and graph databases.

Furthermore, part of our activities is to track international developments and assess the likelyhood of disruptions and causes of instability. Our social and political instability monitors and models can be made available for our customers.

HCSS Datawarehouse & Datalab

HCSS has, over the years, established its HCSS Datawarehouse, facilitating and underpinning our research with empiric data. Not only do we make use of data analyses, we also utilize modelling for our research and products. For instance, we design and build data driven, interactive dashboards and monitors. Other activities include the development of models that underpin our analyses making it possible to enhance understanding of situations and design predictive modelling tools. Various examples of our monitors are publicly available, but some are tailored for our customers and for them available only.

Indian Dutch Cyber Security School

Cyber Security Schools

Over the years, HCSS facilitated large-scale action learning for students and young professionals in the realm of cyber security and policy. For instance, since 2015 we have organized Cyber Security Summer Schools on demand of HSD and/or the Municipality and in cooperation with governments (Dutch & Indian) and international organizations such as Europol and NATO.

These schooloffer a valuable opportunity for participants to gain further expertise in issues regarding cyber security. Participants have benefited from courses focusing on the Internet and Artificial Intelligence to Blockchain and the Internet of Things. During lectures, students have been taught about topics covering a myriad of disciplines, including engineering, ethics, law and policy. This knowledge is further reinforced by assignments, known as challenges, that students must tackle in multidisciplinary groups. These challenges are offered and judged by our partners, like governments, companies or academic institutions.

Expert & Design Sessions

HCSS hass a broad range of tools available for research and stakeholder engagement. Expert sessions are often used to explore, align and or confront ideas and concepts. We organize these sessions in-house in our meeting rooms, on site, and/or fully online. We enable interactive collaboration and thinking by utilizing well-established methods and tools.

In addition, HCSS also hosts and facilitias design sessions. When concept development and ideation are at hand interaction with stakeholders is required to think through the pro’s and con’s. Both ideation and creative design are part of these sessions. The effect of design sessions is that more plausible scenario’s are being spotted, better understood and consequences assessed. It forms a good basis for further development and decision making.
