Dutch officials urge stronger focus on NATO defence, support for Ukraine and investigation of war crimes

Russia’s war in Ukraine will define the way the Netherlands and NATO operate in the years and decades to come. NATO will need to adapt by strengthening its defence and deterrence posture, while continuing to support Ukraine. The Netherlands is punching above its weight in this effort. This was the central message of a three-day visit of a NATO Parliamentary Assembly delegation to The Hague.

Samenwerking met China: Geen meldplicht voor universiteiten

Het kabinet wil geen meldplicht invoeren voor universiteiten en bedrijven die samenwerken met Chinese partijen binnen risicovakgebieden. Dat blijkt uit antwoorden op Kamervragen die Tweede Kamerleden Sjoerd Sjoerdsma en Alexander Hammelburg (beiden D’66) stelden naar aanleiding van een artikel in NRC door HCSS analyst Joris Teer.

Cooperation with China: No mandatory disclosure for universities

The Dutch Cabinet does not want to institute mandatory disclosure for universities and companies working with Chinese entities in risk areas. This emerged from answers to Parliamentary Questions (in Dutch) posed by House of Representatives members Sjoerd Sjoerdsma and Alexander Hammelburg (both of the D66 party) after an article by HCSS analyst Joris Teer appeared in the NRC newspaper.
