Artillery was, and looks to remain, important for land warfare, HCSS strategic analysts Davis Ellison and Paul van Hooft tell Newsweek. According to Kyiv’s military, Russian forces have lost more than 5,000 artillery systems in the almost 18-month-long war, as the Ukrainian counteroffensive eats up artillery supplies on both sides. “Having to restrain itself to not run out of munitions might turn out to be a real problem.”
