Studio Schumpeter | Ron Stoop over Europa’s grondstoffenwet: veel overleg, weinig resultaat

Europa wil met de Critical Raw Materials Act minder afhankelijk worden van China. Twee recente rapporten, van de Europese Investeringsbank en de Europese Rekenkamer, geven weinig reden tot optimisme, constateert Ron Stoop, strategisch analist bij The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies. Canada steekt jaarlijks anderhalf miljard euro in de zoektocht naar nieuwe grondstoffen, de hele Europese Unie tweehonderd miljoen. HCSS expert Ron Stoop legt uit waarom Europa vastloopt in procedures terwijl de Verenigde Staten zich rechtstreeks bij bedrijven inkopen en Japan al jaren bezig is om voorraden aan te leggen.
