WTC 2026 Geopolitical Update | launch second edition of GATRI

June 4, 2026
Did you know? Geopolitical volatility is the fastest-growing risk in the world. According to business leaders, geopolitical risk rose from rank 21 in 2023 to rank 9 in 2025 and is expected to climb further to rank 5 by 2028. That is why WTCA, in collaboration with HCSS and the World Trade Center Netherlands Alliance, is proud to present the 2026 Geopolitical Update  — a timely virtual briefing exploring the geopolitical, economic, and trade dynamics shaping global business in the year ahead.

📅Monday, June 8, 2026

🕔 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. CEST (5:00 – 7:00 a.m. EDT)

Om Monday, June 8, the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA), in collaboration with The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS) and the World Trade Center Netherlands Alliance, will present the 2026 Geopolitical Update — a timely virtual briefing exploring the geopolitical, economic, and trade dynamics shaping global business in the year ahead.

Building on the success of the 2025 program and accompanying launch of the Geopolitical Annual Trade Risk Index (GATRI), this year’s update will bring together international experts and business leaders to examine emerging geopolitical risks, shifting trade relationships, supply chain resilience, regional security developments, and the growing impact of policy and global uncertainty on investment and cross-border commerce.

Geopolitical Annual Trade Risk Index (GATRI)

The second edition of the Geopolitical Annual Trade Risk Index (GATRI) will also be unveiled during the event by HCSS Datalab Manager Jesse Kommandeur. Designed as a practical tool for policymakers and business leaders, GATRI provides a single, easy-to-understand metric that captures the annual state of geopolitical stability and its influence on international trade dynamics.

The annual update aims to provide practical insights and data-driven perspectives to help organizations navigate an increasingly complex international environment.
