Podcast Pallas Athena Aflevering 1: Deterrence

Deterrence (het proberen af te schrikken van je tegenstander) is een begrip uit de tijd van de Koude Oorlog. Sinds 2014 is er weer veel aandacht voor dit onderwerp.

In aflevering 1 van de podcastserie Pallas Athena worden de volgende vragen besproken:

  • Waar komt deze hernieuwde interesse in deterrence vandaan?
  • Wat houdt het niet-Westerse denken over deterrence in?
  • Wat zijn de consequenties voor het Nederlandse veiligheids- en defensiebeleid?

Recent verscheen een lijvige bundel over Deterrence in the 21st Century. In dit gesprek de highlights uit het boek met de redacteurs. Frans Osinga is commodore in de NLD krijgsmacht en hoogleraar Krijgswetenschappen, verbonden aan de NLDA en Universiteit Leiden. Dr. Tim Sweijs is onderzoeksdirecteur bij HCSS en research fellow aan de Faculteit Militaire Wetenschappen.
