Pieter-Jan Vandoren is a Strategic Analyst at HCSS, specialising in defence and security policy. His work covers European security, critical infrastructure protection, and strategic foresight. He has contributed to several HCSS reports and writes opinion pieces on international security. He has also appeared on radio to share his perspectives on defence and global affairs.
Before joining HCSS, Pieter-Jan was an intern at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) in Brussels, where he researched European strategic autonomy in the context of US–China competition. He also worked as a consultant at EY Brussels.
Pieter-Jan holds a BSc in Business Economics from Hasselt University and MSc degrees in International Business and Finance (both cum laude) from KU Leuven. He later earned an MA in Global Security and Strategy (summa cum laude) from the Brussels School of Governance.
