We would like to invite you to join the upcoming HSD Café on ‘Intimidation and Undermining of Public Administration’. Undermining criminality is a broad societal issue, which varies from the infiltration of police, national and local government, to the court of justice. These levels of undermining the public administration have great impact, for example the drug trade in Tilburg. This trade level is worth 728 to 884 million euros annually, which comparatively is roughly the same amount as the city’s annual budget.
We have invited a series of experts that will discuss various aspects of the undermining nature of criminality. How does intimidation work from a neurobiological perspective? What makes it that a person feels intimidated? What is currently being done in terms of combatting it? What role could innovation play in this process?
The HSD Café is organised as follows:
From 16:00 – 16:30 hrs the following experts will share their insights on the matter through brief presentations:
– Victor Kallen (Senior Scientist, TNO) will elaborate on the neurobiological aspects of intimidation.
– Xander Beenhakkers (Director Security & Innovation, Van Aetsveld) will discuss the search for an integral approach for intimidation in the public sphere.
16:30: the brief presentations will be followed by a discussion, in which the audience will have the opportunity to ask questions and share their views.
17:00: the bar is open for drinks and there will be ample opportunity to network.
