On Saturday, November 7, 2026, HCSS research director Dr. Tim Sweijs will speak at the TEDxTheHague event “Beyond Uncertainty”.

Hosted at the Louwman Museum in The Hague, the event centres on how we navigate an increasingly unpredictable world shaped by rapid technological shifts, climate disruption, geopolitical tensions, and socio-economic changes.

The event will feature eight diverse speakers – ranging from strategic forecasters and decision theorists to neuroscience and psychology experts – who will address how these ideas apply across our careers, communities, and lives.

As Director of Research at The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS), Tim works at the volatile intersection of political science, war studies, and cutting-edge technology.

He analyses modern conflict, and advises the UN Security Council, NATO, and global governments on how to survive it. In an increasingly unpredictable world, Tim brings a sharp, eye-opening look at the future of war, AI, and strategic foresight.

He is the initiator, creator, and author of numerous studies and methodologies for research projects in strategic foresight, conflict analysis & early warning, defence planning, and strategy and capability development.
