Tim Sweijs | EISS Conference: Debating the Future of War

June 28, 2024

On June 27, HCSS director of research Tim Sweijs chaired a roundtable on “Debating the Future of War” at the 7th Annual Conference of the European Initiative for Security Studies (EISS).

Each year, the EISS conference is organised on a rotational basis in a different European country. The 2024 conference was held at the Institute of Political Studies, at Charles University in Prague.

The roundtable featured contributions from Isabelle Duyvesteyn (Leiden University); Henrik Breitenbauch (Royal Danish Defence College); and Janani Mohan (University of Cambridge).

On day 2 of the conference, Sweijs also took part in a session about “Maritime security in the Indo-Pacific: perspectives from the EU”, where he presented recent HCSS research on “Guarding the Maritime Highways: Europe’s Role in the Indo-Pacific”.

More of our work on the Indo-Pacific by strategic analysts Paul van Hooft, Benedetta Girardi, Davis Ellison and Tim Sweijs can be found on the HCSS Europe in the Indo-Pacific landing page.

More info about the EISS conference, including the full programme, can be read here.
