The European Australia Business Council (EABC) visits HCSS on June 8, 2012 as part of a visit to the Netherlands.
The EABC brings together Australian and European business and government leaders and officials in dialogue on economic and public policy developments affecting the trade, investment and strategic relationship between Australia and Europe. The Council’s membership includes senior corporate and policy figures, including chairmen and CEOs of major public companies, former ministers, diplomats and senior officials.
The Council is an independent, private sector organisation which works closely with the Australian Government, the European Commission and other peak and industry groups. Every year a delegation of the Council’s members undertake a mission to Brussels and to two other European Member State capitals to meet with European leaders, senior officials and peak employer federations to examine:
• economic conditions and the business climate in Europe and wider impact on the global economy;
• developments occurring in key sectors including financial markets, energy and resources, infrastructure and transport, and innovation;
• changes in public policy driven at the EU and Member State levels affecting these sectors, and others;
• opportunities for increasing bilateral trade and investment between Australia and The Netherlands;
• areas of common interest in global institutions and regulatory bodies, including common foreign and security policy interests.
This year, the Council visits Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands.
