As international tensions fluctuate and alliances shift, the need for advanced analytical tools to decode these interactions has never been more crucial. The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS) is at the forefront of developing solutions that bring clarity and insight into the geopolitical landscape.
The Geopolitical Interactive Network Analysis (GINA) series developed by the HCSS Datalab stands as a pioneering suite of tools designed to transcend traditional analysis methods. By integrating diverse data from diplomatic, information, military, and economic spheres, GINA provides a multidimensional perspective on global relations that shape our world.
- In June, the HCSS Datalab launched the first tool from the series, GINA Diplomatic, which focuses on diplomatic engagement across the globe by analysing and comparing voting and speech behaviour on an international dyadic level.
- In July, the HCSS Datalab launched the second tool, GINA Economic, which focuses on global economic interactions by analysing and comparing trade and foreign direct investment behaviour on an international dyadic level.
- And in August, we launched the third tool, GINA Military, lays emphasis on inter and intra state interactions across the globe by analysing and comparing military conflict and military cooperation on an international dyadic level.
Today, we proudly present GINA Information – the fourth tool in the GINA series, focusing on geopolitical interactions reported by media outlets. Using data from diverse news sources, it offers insights into global dynamics, enabling users to track and compare state-level interactions as covered in the news.

Webinar: Join the potential of GINA
On Monday, October 21st, join the HCSS Datalab for a webinar from 15.00-17.00 CEST to meet GINA, a suite of data driven analytical tools that model global interactions across states, together with Jesse Kommandeur and Rens van Dam.
HCSS invites organisations and governments to engage with the GINA. Our technology aims to enhance decision-making processes, inform policy development, and promote international stability. If your organisation is interested in accessing our GINA tools or contributing to their evolution, please contact us at info@hcss.nl.
