First GC REAIM Meeting Washington D.C.

July 15, 2024

Last week marked an important milestone for the Global Commission on Responsible AI in the Military Domain (GC REAIM). On Monday the 8th and Tuesday the 9th of July, GC REAIM held its first in-person Regional Commission Meeting in Washington D.C., around the NATO Summit. We would like to thank our partner The Brookings Institution for making an excellent few days of discussion on responsible AI in the military domain possible.

To further engage with the relevant expert community in and around Washington D.C., GC REAIM co-organized a GC REAIM Commission Symposium Day (‘The Symposium Day’) in collaboration with our partner the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) to share key discussion points and the preliminary conclusions of the Commission Meeting that took place on the two days prior.

The Symposium Day was held at the Cosmos Club on the 10th of July 2024 in Washington, D.C. This event brought together GC REAIM Commissioners, the regional constituency of experts, including experts from CIGI and Brookings and other relevant members of the regional network.

We are very pleased to have partnered with the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and would like to thank them for facilitating this important Symposium Day and for providing this opportunity to strengthen the dialogue within GC REAIM.

The Global Commission looks forward to continuing its contribution to the global conversation on AI governance and to proceed with its meaningful work on responsible AI in the military domain.
