Boeren eisen compensatie voor schade boycot

De Russische landbouwboycot blijkt nog groter dan gedacht. Tomaten, paprika’s, wortelen, melk, zuivel, vlees: de Russen weren al onze land- en tuinbouwproducten. Boeren en tuinders vrezen grote inkomensschade en eisen dat het kabinet en de EU hun schade compenseert.

Nadat Europa vorige week zijn sancties aankondigde tegen Rusland, pakte Ruud Huirne, directeur Food & Agri van de Rabobank, meteen het vliegtuig. ‘Ik vond de berichtgeving in Nederlandse media opportunistisch en wilde zelf weten hoe de vlag er bij staat,’ vertelt hij per telefoon vanuit Rusland. Verrast is Huirne, die goed Russisch spreekt, niet over de tegenmaatregelen van Poetin. ‘Dit zat er aan te komen. Russen laten zich niet langer door het Westen in de hoek zetten.’
