Third International Masterclass

August 19, 2011

The main theme of this year’s International Masterclass will be International Emergency Management and specifically Consequence Management: try to prepare for the unthinkable disaster!

This International Masterclass will be conducted from December 6 till 9 in The Hague, The Netherlands.

After Professor Rob de Wijk, PhD discussed the International context of the national security policy and Mr. Glenn Schoen, MA presented the threats to the modern societies, Professor Eelco Dykstra, M.D. (George Washington University, Institute for Crisis, Disaster and Risk Management and International KATRINA Project-Europe) will give us the headlines of this new thinking process. The other speakers will focus on their specific expertise, such as Crisis communication, CBRN, ethical aspects and cultural differences. They will discuss the relation with Emergency Management. Also the development of Dutch Safety Regions will be presented and discussed, as well as the role of multinationals, like SHELL.

Last year we successfully organized the Second International Masterclass in The Hague. The leading subject was Global Warming. More specifically, we asked ourselves questions such as what might be the consequences for people, infrastructures, the environment and the economy?
