HSD café: Space and Security

May 28, 2015

The growing capability of satellites to collect more data in higher frequency and resolution provides the security industry with new opportunities to strengthen and protect critical infrastructures on earth. In this HSD Café, the current and future capabilities of satellite data will be discussed to inspire companies and students to come up with viable opportunities for the security sector. The Secure Your Future Challenge 2015 is inviting those interested to submit their proposal and be eligible to win a prize in November this year.

From 16:00 until 16:30, the following four speakers will discuss the contemporary capabilities of satellite systems, the types of data that can be useful for the security industry, and the opportunities that earth observation provides in the future:

• Prof. Amnon Ginati – Head of the Integrated & Telecommunications related Applications Department (European Space Agency – ESTEC)/ Norbert Hübner – Head of Feasibility Studies Section Integrated & Telecommunications-related Applications Department (ESA – ESTEC)

• Gert van der Burg – Director Downstream (Holland Space Cluster) & Director (Geomatics Business Park)

• Jasper van Loon – Applications Advisor (Netherlands Space Office)

• Han Wensink – Managing Director (Ocean Space Consult)

Until 17:00 a Panel Discussion will be held during which the audience has the opportunity to ask questions about the content of the presentations. After this Q&A session every participant is invited to discuss the Cafe and to network whilst enjoying a drink and snack until 17:45.
