Wijninga bij WNL: Poetin zit “in de knoop”

Volgens defensie-expert Peter Wijninga zit Poetin “in de knoop”. “Hij boekt te weinig vooruitgang en komt dan met zo’n dreigement. Hij wordt van alle kanten belaagd. Het vervelende is dat hij nu in een positie zit, waarin hij zich niet kan terugtrekken. Dat is gezichtsverlies.”

Afgevaardigden van Rusland en Oekraïne gaan vandaag met elkaar in gesprek in Wit-Rusland. Wijninga denkt dat daar weinig resultaat geboekt zal worden. “Oekraïne moet onderhandelen met het pistool op de borst”, zegt hij.

President van Oekraïne, Volodimir Zelenski gaf al aan zich niet over te geven aan de Russen. Een vertrek van de Russische troepen uit zijn land zal het uitgangspunt zijn van Oekraïne. “De Russen zitten met een hele andere agenda aan tafel”, vertelt Wijninga.
