Veiligheidsdienst AIVD verliest zicht op escalerend jihadisme

De inlichtingendienst AIVD kan jihadisten in Nederland niet meer goed volgen door bezuinigingen en “nieuwe dynamiek” in de jihadbeweging. Volgens een AIVD-nota die volgende week verschijnt, is de jihadbeweging nu ongrijpbaarder en gevaarlijker “dan ooit tevoren”. Dat zeggen bronnen rond het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken vandaag in NRC Handelsblad.

‘AIVD heeft enorm capaciteitsprobleem’

Veiligheidsdeskundige Rob de Wijk, directeur van het Centrum voor Strategische Studies in Den Haag, zegt desgevraagd dat de AIVD een “enorm capaciteitsprobleem” heeft om het jihadisme te volgen. Dat is volgens hem recent “geëxplodeerd”, en het speelt zich nu af “buiten gevestigde structuren, zoals de moskeeën”. Het blijkt onmogelijk alle betrokkenen te volgen. “Daarom moet de AIVD-capaciteit juist worden uitgebreid”, aldus De Wijk.
