Today at a meeting of the NATO LGBT Working Group in Stockholm, Karin Enström, Swedish Minister of Defense, spoke to delegates from around the world on the importance of inclusion in the military, stressing that “diversity is an absolutely basic premise for a modern armed force.” HCSS strategic analyst Joshua Polchar was also present.
Minister Enström also referenced the work of HCSS, praising the LGBT Military Index as a ‘powerful tool’. Sweden made the top 5, along with New Zealand, the Netherlands, the UK and Australia. Minister Enström stated that high rankings in the HCSS Index should be viewed as a responsibility to continue building on our achievements in inclusion, and expressed her confidence in future progress.
