Participants will contribute to a moderated serious game focused on the case study of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. The game stimulates a situation whereby participants are decision makers tasked with the challenge of mitigating the impact of water, energy, and food-related risks as well as increasing the adaptive capacity of vulnerable communities. This serious gaming exercise fulfils two purposes:
- creating awareness and understanding of the complexities behind the Water-Energy-Food nexus in climate-vulnerable areas; and
- stimulating the development of innovative ideas that could support Water-Energy-Food management strategies in the Sinai.
To set the scene, the Arab Green Youth Voices (AGYV) and The Weather Makers and will kick-off the event. A representative of AGYV will share their experiences facing water, energy and food insecurity in the Middle East and touch upon their work in mitigating and adapting to these risks. The Weather Makers will shortly present their Bardawil & Sinai Initiative, with the plan to restore the water cycle of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.
After that the gaming exercise will start, based on three stages:
(1) Defining objectives;
(2) Determining relevant actors to be considered and/or involved;
(3) Choosing capabilities that could contribute to the objectives.
Further details (including the Zoom link) will be sent to all registrants a few days prior to the event.
