Moet de dienstplicht weer worden ingevoerd?

Tweede kamer lid Joram van Klaveren van VoorNederland (VNL) wil de dienstplicht opnieuw invoeren. Volgens hem zal dienstplicht de band tussen samenleving en leger versterken, draagt die bij aan de bestrijding van de jeugdcriminaliteit en helpt die de krijgsmacht bij het wegwerken van personeelstekorten. Ook de oplopende internationale spanningen spelen een rol bij de wil de dienstplicht weer in te voeren.

Van Klaveren denkt dat jaarlijks circa 60.000 jongeren vanaf hun 18e hun dienstplicht kunnen vervullen. VNL wil structureel 5 miljard extra aan Defensie uitgeven.
