This Thursday, HCSS senior strategic analyst Laura Birkman will participate in an online panel during the Annual Conference of the Climate Change & (In)Security Project (CCIP).
The 2022 CCIP annual conference will explore the role of defence in the global response to increasing climate insecurity, and hosts experts from across the field of climate, defence, and security.
The panel “Assessing climate insecurity within a Defence context” will take place on 3 November from 11.45-12.45 CET. How is climate change and global responses to its impacts shaping the global security landscape? What are the implications for Defence?
Ms. Birkman will join the panel together with Dr Irene Mia (International Institute for Strategic Studies), Olivia Lazard (Carnegie Europe), Mr Christophe Hodder (UN Environment Programme, Climate Security and Environment Advisor to Somalia). The panel will be chaired by Mr Matt Ince of the UK Ministry of Defence.
The CCIP is a collaboration between the University of Oxford and the British Army’s The Centre for Historical Analysis and Conflict Research (CHACR).
