Hoe reageert China op de Amerikaanse boycot op de Spelen in Beijing?

Een diplomatiek spel tussen de VS en China: niemand van de Amerikaanse delegatie zal aanwezig zijn tijdens de Olympische Spelen. Rob de Wijk sprak erover in talkshow M op NPO1.

Uit protest tegen mensenrechtenschendingen wil de Amerikaanse regering geen overheidsfunctionarissen naar China laten afreizen. Sporters daarentegen wel. China noemt deze stap een regelrechte provocatie. Hoe gaat China zich opstellen (ook als er meer boycots komen)?

“Als je dit zou willen doen, kan dat alleen in een breder verband, in EU-verband”, aldus Rob de Wijk, over de vraag of Nederland een delegatie naar de Winterspelen in China moet sturen.
