Dr Kelder en Co | Friso Stevens: China, Rijk in verval of in opkomst?

Hoe bedreigend is China voor de vrije wereld? Afgelopen week heeft de EU overleg gevoerd met China over grondstoffen. Dat zijn belangrijke en gespannen gesprekken, want China is voor Nederland de grootste leverancier van producten die kritieke grondstoffen bevatten, zoals zonnepanelen. Maar de Chinese economie kwakkelt, dus klopt dat beeld van “De Fabriek van de Wereld” wel als je naar de economische cijfers kijkt?

En hoe bedreigend zijn de Chinezen op militair gebied? De grootste militaire oefening ooit is op Taiwan bezig om de bevolking en de reservisten voor te bereiden op een mogelijke Chinese aanval. Hebben wij ook zo’n oefening nodig nu de NCTV onlangs opnieuw waarschuwde voor spionage vanuit onder andere China? En hoe lang blijft Xi nog op zijn positie?

Antwoorden over deze supermacht geeft dr Friso Stevens, China-expert en verbonden aan het HCSS, in Dr Kelder en Co met presentator Jort Kelder, op NPO Radio 1.
