De Strateeg: Waarom we niet meer om Qatar heen kunnen

Het WK voetbal in Qatar mag dan één van de meest controversiële sporttoernooien ooit zijn. Qatar is een land waar we niet meer omheen kunnen. Na Amerika is Qatar de grootste LNG-hub ter wereld. Nu we geen gas meer uit Rusland willen gebruiken hebben we het vloeibare gas uit Qatar nodig.

Tegelijkertijd blijven Westerse landen kritiek uiten op de mensenrechtensituatie in Qatar en refereren daarbij aan de 6.500 doden die gevallen zijn als gevolg van de bouw van de stadions. Oftewel, we zijn kritisch op Qatar en maken statements, maar kunnen we nog wel om dat land heen?
