From Wednesday 26 – Friday 28 June 2019, the University of Oxford’s Changing Character of War Centre (CCW), hosted a fully booked conference: “The Conduct of War – Past, Present and Future”.
Dr. Tim Sweijs of The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies chaired a panel on AI and War on Wednesday.
On Friday morning he presented a paper on “The Role of Deterrence in the Hybrid Domain”, as part of a large deterrence research project.
He also participated in a panel on “The Future of War”, together with Professor Dr. Frans Osinga, Special Chair in War Studies of Leiden University.
The Oxford Changing Character of War programme is devoted to the interdisciplinary study of war and armed conflict. The programme conducts research on a wide range of issues pertaining to the history of war in the modern period, and seeks to be ‘policy-relevant’ to more recent conflicts through elucidation, explication, and education.
