Dr. Marcos López Oneto, a distinguished lawyer with a Master of Laws specializing in Private Law and a Doctor of Law from the prestigious University of Chile, brings over 25 years of rich professional experience to the realm of legal scholarship and practice. Currently serving as a team researcher at the esteemed Center for AI and Digital Policy (CAIDP) in Washington D.C., USA, Dr. López Oneto is at the forefront of shaping policies and regulations surrounding artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies. In addition to his research endeavors, Dr. López Oneto imparts his vast knowledge and expertise as a Professor of Introduction to the Law of Artificial Intelligence at the renowned Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago, Chile, and as a visiting professor of Ethics of Artificial Intelligence at the esteemed Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires, where he contributes to the AI Laboratory.
Residing in Washington D.C., USA, Dr. López Oneto is the author of several seminal works in the field, including “Fundamentos para un Derecho de la Inteligencia Artificial” (Tirant lo Blanch, Spain, 2020), “Derecho al Futuro” (Tirant lo Blanch, Spain, 2021), and a significant contribution to the “Tratado de Derecho e Inteligencia Artificial” edited by G. Juan Corvalán, exploring the anthropological, ethical, philosophical, historical, sociological, and legal foundations for the universal constitution of an Artificial Intelligence Law. Furthermore, Dr. López Oneto’s expertise extends to international collaborations, including a notable chapter on Uruguay in “Artificial Intelligence and Democratic Values,” published by the Center for AI and Digital Policy in Washington D.C. in 2022”.
