On 1 November 2007, TNO Defence & Security in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence, The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, Pinpoint Management and Consultancy B.V. organized a symposium on Chemical, Biological, Radioactive & Nuclear (CBRN) terrorism. This symposium provided an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with leading experts from the Netherlands and abroad including scientists and representatives from government, armed forces and the business community.
TNO, MoD, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the Hague Fire Department demonstrated the most modern CBRN protection and detoxification equipment. The symposium was chaired by Major-General (ret) Franklin van Kappen, advisor to the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies. HCSS Director Rob de Wijk gave a key-note address.
