Allowing LGBT to serve in the military is not just a matter of morality, but also a matter of military efficiency. In this sense, Europe is a global leader and should be set as an example.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Palm Center organize a full-day event in order to shed more light upon issues such as best practices and lessons to be learned, what the experiences of transgender in the military have been, and how diversity can be promoted among troops around the world.
HCSS strategic analyst Joshua Polchar will contribute to the event by talking about military diversity. He specializes in diversity and inclusion, governance, and resources. He created the LGBT Military Index, and is developing a strategic vision for inclusion in armed forces. He chaired the session on LGBT in the military at a conference of the German Marshall Fund, and has presented research on global governance at the Pan-European Conference on International Relations.
The full program for the event can be seen here.
