Poetins arm reikt ook tot in Nederland

We worden de laatste tijd doodgegooid met de term ‘fake news’. Maar hoe dreigend is het? En hoe bestrijd je fake news? Generaal Wilfred Rietdijk luidt in een interview met de Volkskrant de noodklok. Volgens de strategisch adviseur Nationale Veiligheid en Cyber bij Defensie moet er snel een breed gedragen organisatie komen die digitale dreiging, zoals manipulatie en beïnvloeding via fake nieuws, vanuit het buitenland in kaart brengt. Ook oppert Rietdijk voor een samenwerking tussen overheid en belangrijke media.

Groot Gevaar 

Tim Sweijs van HCSS is blij met de uitspraken van Rietdijk. „Buitenlandse inmenging in onze democratie is een groot gevaar, het is een maatschappelijk probleem. Hoe duidelijker dit is bij het grote publiek, hoe beter wij ons kunnen wapenen.” Het HCSS deed in maart dit jaar een paar aanbevelingen op welke manier Nederland zich tegen Russische desinformatie kan beschermen.
