On 20 October, Cemil Ertem, advisor to the Turkish president, said that Turkey wants to connect Israeli gas supplies to the Southern Gas Corridor project.The Southern Gas Corridor is one of the priority energy projects for the EU. It envisages the transportation of 10 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas from the Caspian region to the European countries through Georgia and Turkey.
For Israeli gas to be connected to this route however, the Syrian war and the issues concerning the reunification of Cyprus remain significant stumbling blocks says Sijbren de Jong in a conversation with Trend News Agency from Azerbaijan.
