Gevaar instabiliteit door Arabische lente levensgroot (NL)

Gelukkig lijdt de energievoorziening in Europa niet onder de Arabische Lente. Goed, er komt nauwelijks meer olie uit Libië. Maar het aandeel van dit land op de wereldolievoorziening is zo beperkt dat de effecten kunnen worden opgevangen. Met de gasvoorziening is het niet veel anders. Een grote producent als Algerije blijft stabiel en een land als Nederland krijgt überhaupt geen gas uit dat land.

Niks aan de hand zult u zeggen. Schijn bedriegt. Want de strategische dimensie van de Arabische Lente blijft in het publieke en politieke debat buiten schot. Alleen al de term ‘Lente’. Daar blijkt meer hoop dan realisme uit. Zeker, uiteindelijk zal daar wel een vorm van democratie ontstaan. Het is alleen de vraag wanneer en door welk dal die landen eerst moeten gaan.
