In an interview with Anadolu Agency, the Turkey-based press agency, Willem Oosterveld said that the reopening of the UK embassy in Tehran has mostly symbolic significance and will have relatively little impact on mutual trade relations. Indeed, the rebuilding of trade relations had between the UK and Iran had been underway sometime before the nuclear agreement was concluded on July 14, and to which the UK was a party. But apart from trade interests, Tehran is also likely to become once more an important diplomatic hub for the region—one more reason for having a fully functioning embassy in the Iranian capital.
