On Tuesday, November 22, HCSS strategic analyst Benedetta Girardi will be a kick-off speaker at the Transatlantic Policy Forum hosted by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Prague, where she will join a panel on “Aligning on Geopolitical Strategies: From Trans-Atlantic to Indo-Pacific.”
Over the years, the Indo-Pacific region has emerged as an arena of great power competition. Seen as a policy to counter China’s growing economic and military presence in the region, the US and EU have set out strategies offering alternatives to the pre-existing balance of power. These strategies go beyond traditional security threats, but also address other key issues such as maritime security, connectivity, digital and cybersecurity, fight against climate change, energy transition among a list of issues. As the world shifts their view towards Ukraine, it is imperative that we keep a vigilant eye on the Indo-Pacific as well and continue to strengthen the regions policies. Experts will dive deeper into how the EU and US can navigate the shifts occurring in the Indo-pacific, the deteriorating situation in the Taiwan strait, and explore areas to deepen the EU-ASEAN cooperation and bridge the Euro Atlantic with Indo Pacific.
The Transatlantic Policy Forum (TAPF) is a closed-door summit for decision-makers and opinion-formers co-organised by EUROPEUM Institute for European Policy with partners. TAPF has been held in Prague every Autumn since 2018 under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic.
