Russian news agency Sputnik reported on June 6 that Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh said his country may begin exporting oil to Russia under a barter deal in exchange for importing equipment, construction materials and grain from Russia. Although it was swiftly denied that operations under the deal had already begun, the agreement carries strategic advantages for both countries currently suffering from western sanctions.
