Rapport: De Toekomst in alle Staten

March 13, 2013

Op woensdag 13 maart 2013 presenteert het Den Haag Centrum voor Strategische Studies de HCSS Strategische Monitor 2013: “De Toekomst in alle Staten”. Dit is een adviesrapport in opdracht van de Nederlandse regering en het anticipeert op toekomstige ontwikkelingen in de internationale veiligheidsomgeving.

De belangrijkste bevinding van deze studie is de volgende paradox: Overal ter wereld nemen conflicten af, maar aan de randen van Europa nemen instabiliteit en conflicten juist toe.

Positief is dat het aantal en de omvang van conflicten historisch gezien momenteel klein is. Democratie blijft zich als staatsvorm verspreiden en het welvaartspeil van de wereldbevolking is in de afgelopen twintig jaar ruim verdubbeld. De wereld wordt verder gekenmerkt door een grote, in de geschiedenis ongeëvenaarde, verwevenheid op politiek, economisch, ecologisch, technologisch, sociaal en cultureel vlak.
