Nieuwsuur | Michel Rademaker: Grondstoffen noodzakelijk voor defensie komen uit China

Oekraïne heeft het zwaar, mede door gebrek aan munitie. Kan het Westen wel meer leveren? NAVO-landen willen productie van de 155mm-granaat opvoeren. “Dat is een probleem,” zegt HCSS adjunct-directeur en onderzoeker op het gebied van zogeheten critical raw materials Michel Rademaker bij Nieuwsuur.

“Veel van de kritieke grondstoffen die noodzakelijk zijn voor de defensie-industrie, komen uit China,” legt Rademaker uit. “China overheerst die markt. De EU is voor meer dan 95% afhankelijk van China voor het gros van deze metalen.”
