Marjolein de Ridder is keynote speaker at the Sustainable Phosphorus Summit (SPS14), which is held in Montepellier (France) from 1 to 3 September 2014.
The primary aim of this multidisciplinary event is to define the global research agenda for phosphorus, integrating geographical regions and scientific domains. Marjolein de Ridder is part of the Advisory Board of the summit.
In Session 1 “P in our World” on the first day of the summit, Marjolein de Ridder will deliver a keynote speech entitled “Redefining the Global Phosphate Challenge through Reciprocity”. Her main message is that the foreign policy dimension and opportunities for international cooperation deserve more attention in the European debate on phosphorus security. The EU should promote supply security by forging reciprocal strategic partnerships with phosphate rock suppliers.
During the last day on the summit, Marjolein de Ridder will moderate a workshop on Global P-Governance.
Prior to the summit, a Young Scientists Workshop is held for 42 PhD students and young postdoctoral fellows from Northern and Southern countries. Together with other members of the Advisory Board and Scientific Committee, Marjolein de Ridder will contribute to the opening of the workshop with a short presentation and food for thought.
