The international security order is changing. Long-standing arms control treaties are under pressure, war has returned to Europe, and strategic rivalry is on the rise.
What lessons can we learn from the past? And how should we approach arms control in the future? During the symposium ‘The Future of Arms Control’, organised by the Koninklijke Vereniging ter Beoefening van de Krijgswetenschap (English: Royal Netherlands Society for War Studies), we will examine these important questions.
🗓️ Date and time: 19 November 2026, 1.30 pm–6.00 pm
📍Venue: Leiden University, Spui Campus (Spui 5, 2511 BL The Hague)
🎟️ Registration: via the KVBK website (The Future of Arms Control | KVBK)
We will look back, look ahead and discuss what the Netherlands and its allies can do today to lay a strong foundation for arms control and strategic stability in the future.
