On the 5th of April, after the movie “Resolution 819”, Erik van Uum of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and HCSS deputy director Christa Meindersma debated about the responsibility of the international community to protect human rights worldwide. Are humanitarian interventions justified in countries such as Sudan or Iraq where human rights are being violated on a large scale? And how should they be carried out? Lars van Troost of Amnesty International moderated the debate.
