HCSS is pleased to once again partner with the Sarajevo Security Conference, taking place from 4-6 September, 2026 under the theme “Securing Europe in a Divided World“.

Last year HCSS Deputy Director Michel Rademaker spoke at the Conference as the featured speaker and moderator on the panel: “AI in the Military Domain: Legal, Industry, and Practitioner Perspectives”. This year our Strategic Analysts Dr. Davis Ellison and Hans Horan will be speaking at a panel on Russian sub-threshold threats. More information to come soon.

This fourth edition of the conference will once again convene an influential group of global experts, senior policymakers, defence and security officials, academics, and civil society leaders to discuss the evolving security challenges facing Central, Eastern, and South Eastern Europe. SSC 2026 will focus on the future of European security, the role of artificial intelligence in modern defence, and the growing relevance of cognitive warfare. The programme includes an opening ceremony and VIP panel at Sarajevo City Hall, followed by an Industry Day at the Army Hall, where defence, technology, and AI companies will present new capabilities and solutions.

By supporting this forum, HCSS contributes to a wider exchange on European resilience, Euro-Atlantic security, and the strategic role of South Eastern Europe in addressing shared security challenges.

About the Sarajevo Security Conference

The Sarajevo Security Conference (SSC) was launched in 2023 by the Strategic Analysis Initiative, a nonprofit and nongovernmental think tank based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Since January 2024, both the initiative and the conference have operated under the Western Balkans Center at the New Lines Institute, an independent research and policy organization headquartered in Washington, D.C.

The Sarajevo Security Conference, or SSC, is a unique and dynamic platform dedicated to addressing security and foreign policy challenges. It emphasizes collaborative security, empowers small-state agencies, and fosters widespread support for the Euro-Atlantic perspective of Europe as a whole.
