On September 26, 2024, Professor Eitan Shamir, Managing Director of the Begin-Sadat Center for Strategic Studies (BESA Center), delivered a lecture at the Hague Centre for Strategic Studies (HCSS), as part of an academic tour in the Netherlands that highlighted the ongoing importance of understanding the complexities of Middle Eastern conflicts.
His presentation, titled “Tactical and Operational Insights from the Gaza War,” offered a critical analysis of recent military developments in the region. The event drew a diverse audience of policymakers, academics, and security professionals, fostering rich discussions on the implications of these insights for global security strategies.
Before his lecture, Professor Shamir had a meeting with His Excellency Modi Ephraim, the Israeli Ambassador to the Netherlands. The following day, September 27, saw Professor Shamir at the Dutch Defense Academy in Breda. There, he addressed students pursuing their Master’s degree in Security Studies. His lecture focused on the broader Middle East conflict in light of the recent October 7th events. This session offered students a unique opportunity to engage with a leading scholar on one of the most pressing security issues of our time.
