Einde burgeroorlog Libië in zicht

De Libische opstandelingen zijn gisterenavond de hoofdstad Tripoli binnengetrokken en hebben de stad grotendeels overgenomen. Het einde van het regime van Kolonel Kadhafi is daardoor in zicht. Toch is de strijd nog niet gestreden. Vooral rond de residentie van Kadhafi wordt nog hard gevochten.

EenVandaag spreekt met Rob de Wijk, we vragen hem hoe kan het dat de opstandelingen op zo’n korte termijn Tripoli grotendeels hebben overgenomen. Daarnaast praten we met Jan Jaap de Ruiter, arabist aan de Universiteit van Tilburg. Hij analyseert de situatie in Libië.

Ook spreken we de Palestijns-Bulgaarse arts Ashraf El Hagoug, hij zat ruim acht jaar

met verpleegkundigen gevangen in Libië. De arts hoopt dat Muammar Kaddafi als hij gevangen wordt genomen zo snel mogelijk naar het Internationaal Strafhof in Den Haag wordt overgebracht. Wat El Hagoug betreft, krijgt de Libische dictator de doodstraf ook al weet hij dat het hof deze straf niet oplegt.
