Femke Remmits was an Assistant Analyst at HCSS from February to December 2020. Her primary interests are contemporary conflict dynamics and the security implications of climate change. Research projects she contributed to focused on geopolitics, security sector reform in fragile states, food security, climate security, the nexus between water and conflict and the security implications of Covid-19.
Femke holds a Master’s degree in Crisis and Security Management from Leiden University. Her studies at Leiden University also earned her a Bachelor’s degree in Modern Middle Eastern Studies (cum laude) and International Studies with a specialization in the Middle East. Prior to joining HCSS, she was a working student at the Netherlands Royal Army. She currently works at the War Studies Research Centre of the Netherlands Defence Academy.
