Alessandra Barrow is the PR and Communications Assistant at HCSS and the Socio-Political Instability Survey lead. As part of the Communications Team, alongside Patrick Willemsen, she is responsible for communication materials, PR, publications, webinars, social media and press contacts. Alessandra also provides area expertise to the Europe in Indo-Pacific Hub and edits upcoming reports.
Alessandra recently gained a Master of Research (cum laude) in Asian Studies from Leiden University, where she researched the impact of Hindu nationalism on UK politics. She also holds a BA (cum laude) in International Studies with a specialisation in South and Southeast Asia, with Hindi language, and a minor in Islamic studies also from Leiden University. Prior to joining HCSS Alessandra was an intern at International Institute for Asian Studies (IIAS), where she worked on The Newsletter, the IIAS journal, and spurred by the Covid-19 pandemic created a online resource library for Asia scholars. During her studies Alessandra founded a society for students studying South and Southeast Asia.
